Refurbished Tech FAQs

What does "refurbished" mean?

"Refurbished" devices are items that are previously owned, but have gone through rigorous inspection, testing, repair (if needed!), and restoration. Our process has our testing team start by opening up and cleaning out each device. Once cleaned, we test any and all key functions to verify functionality. Any repairs that need to be done are made and verified before the device is brought into our store to be sold.

Why buy refurbished tech?

To answer a question with a question: Why help the planet and your wallet? By giving refurbished electronics a second life, you're contributing to the conservation of resources while reducing electronic waste. Shopping refurbished with Schupan doesn't mean lower quality- it means smarter value. This is a great way to shop trusted brands at a fraction of their original cost.

Are refurbished devices reliable?

Of course, otherwise we wouldn't be selling them! Each product is thoroughly tested and backed by our warranty so that you can shop with confidence that your tech is dependable.

What condition are the devices in? Do they have cosmetic imperfections?

That really depends on the device! These devices are used, so expect some basic wear and tear - maybe a scuff, scratch, or bump in the corner. These cosmetic imperfections do not affect performance and are communicated to the best of our ability. If you have any questions about a specific item, don't hesitate to contact us!

What accessories do these devices come with?

Our tech comes with everything you'd need for normal use! Laptops, desktops, and anything else that would need it comes with a power adapter, and our monitors come with power and video cables to get you set up!

What sort of software comes with these devices?

All previous user data has been wiped to protect our customers, so most of these will not have any software installed. Windows 11 Pro can be added to checkout for devices like this, while others may already have a copy of Windows; These will be clearly labeled in the product description.

How do you ensure data is wiped from previous owners?

As part of our ITAD services, we wipe data in accordance with NIST 800-88 and protect confidential student records in accordance with US Government guidelines & FERPA (Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act). This is step one of our refurbishing process for any data containing device

What is the typical lifespan of a refurbished device?

Most devices typically last at least 3-5 years, though that can change based on usage, the environment the device is in, and the type of device itself. We do everything we can to ensure reliable performance for the remainder of these devices' lives.

Warranty & Returns FAQs

What is your warranty policy?

All devices are eligible to return within 60 days unless subject to damage from owner. Returns are accepted within 60 days, unless damage is attributed to the owner.

Can I purchase an extended warranty?

A 6-month extended warranty is available for purchase for $50.

What is your return policy?

We accept devices returned within 60 days of purchase. Devices must be returned in the same physical condition they were sold.

How do I initiate a warranty claim or return?

You can either contact us or drop by our tech store for help!

What are your shipping options and costs?

We are able to ship via Fedex and USPS currently, further shipping options are detailed in checkout

  • What are the battery health expectations for refurbished laptops? At least 80% of original capacity
  • Are the chargers included? Unless laptop does not come with battery
  • What operating system will be installed? Operating system available for purchase

  • Will there be any dead pixels? No defects/dead pixels.
  • Are all necessary cables (HDMI, DisplayPort, power) included? All necessary power & video cables will be provided.

  • What is the health/wear level of the SSD?

  • Are all necessary peripherals (keyboard, mouse, monitor) included or sold separately? Sold separately.
